Hey folks!
I’m 49 years old now. My wife and I have dedicated 13 years to the interior design industry in China, designing gorgeous spaces for real estate projects and upscale luxury mansions.
But things shifted in March 2021. Hit hard by the slumping real estate market and the pandemic, I chose to press pause on my career. I wound up the design company I built from scratch, which once had nearly 80 amazing teammates.
Later on, my wife and I figured we were halfway to financial freedom. It’s not that we’re super rich, but we finally got our precious freedom back! We bought a motorhome, took our two lovely Schnauzers along, and set off on an awesome journey traveling all around China.
So far, we’ve traveled far and wide. We’ve experienced the vibes of Jilin, Liaoning and Heilongjiang in Northeast China, felt the grandeur of Inner Mongolia, explored the unique charm of Fujian and Guangdong, enjoyed the laid-back scenery of Yunnan and Sanya, and roamed most parts of Guangxi, Xizang and Xinjiang.
During the trip, I often wonder what travel is really about. Whenever we arrive at a new place, we live like local residents for a while. We taste authentic local food, hang around lively markets, listen to interesting local dialects, fully immerse ourselves in local life and see the world from local people’s perspective. This, to me, is the most touching meaning of life and travel.
One starry night, I was playing with my bodhi bracelets looking up at the sky. My wife asked me to talk about bodhi beads, the meaning of wearing bracelets and why they are so popular among people nowadays. We had a long heart-to-heart talk. I said to her: Now fewer people wear watches, yet more and more people love wearing bracelets. No matter what faith you have, everyone holds their own inner beliefs. Apart from easing stress, the biggest power of bracelets is that they always remind us of the beliefs and principles worthy of sticking to all our lives.
With my wife’s sincere encouragement, I made up my mind to launch this website, to share my bead collections, my understanding of bead culture and all my thoughts about life with everyone.
